I have being doing Bootcamp for a while and last year’s challenge was Kokoda. This year after some of the other bootcampers had participated in Triathlons, I decided that participating in a triathlon would one of my challenges. Tri Squad is great, it provides an encouraging, positive training environment, for people new to the sport like me and others who have already competed in triathlons and want to improve their competitive edge. The Squad provides an encouraging supportive environment from the coaches and other squad members in which to train and concentrates on particular skills that are peculiar to triathlons. The coaches also provide individual attention, ensuring that they are aware of your goals/concerns thus training is focussed on individual needs in a group environment. The coaches not only train you, both also compete in triathlons and are able to provide assistance/guidance on equipment that you need to participate in this sport. If you are thinking about participating in a triathlon, come and train with the Peninsula Tri Squad and enjoy yourself while you prepare for the triathlon.

“I went from completing with my first mini-tri just over a year ago with no previous experience in sport to racing my first Half Ironman and finishing in the Top 10! to racing successfully for Australia in the Olympic Distance World Championships. My journey in triathlons has been more rewarding, more challenging and more exciting than I ever believed possible. I have become stronger, faster, fitter and more energetic than I ever imagined, met an amazing group of encouraging, enthusiastic, motivated people and have made some life-long friendships. My journey in triathlons is a reflection and a credit to the dedication, guidance and talent of my coach, Ty Hanley. Ty has the professional skills, knowledge and remarkable ability to ensure his clients reach their potential and achieve their personal goals with outstanding success and enormous enjoyment in the sport. Ty’s understanding and commitment to his clients ensures that they develop confidence, speed, focus and success during every training session and at every race.

“Although I have many years of experience racing longer course distances, this was my first time representing Australia in the Triathlon World Championships. Cyrma’s positivity, passion and enjoyment of this sport, as well as her understanding and knowledge of the fundamentals, tactics and focus of racing, has without doubt lifted the spirit of the Aussie team and has reassured and inspired me to treasure race day as a truly great reward for all my months of hard training, discipline and dedication back home. You made my worlds Cym! Thank you”. Australian AG Triathlete, Sydney, 2010

I just wanted to say that I have been competing in triathlon for over 5 years but never seemed to get any faster or stronger. Peninsula Tri Squad in just a short time has given me a structured training program, tips and tailor-made booster sessions which have already improved my performance. All of this is provided in an environment which is not only supportive and friendly but also highly professional and focussed. The coaches are wonderful and the other squad members fantastic. I can’t rate Peninsula Tri Squad highly enough. Triathlon for me has developed from just a hobby to a real sport. Thanks Ty, Cym and PTS! Ross, Lawyer, Mornington Peninsula 2010.

I entered the Gatorade Triathlon series for the first time last year. I had never done a triathlon before and found the whole experience daunting and exceptionally hard. Although I loved the challenge and the feeling of accomplishment, my results were not too flash which I was disappointed about. I was training for each leg but on the day they didn’t seem to go together as smoothly as I hoped. I joined the Peninsula Tri-squad to help me improve my performances in this years’ series. So far I have developed more confidence on the bike (my weakest leg) developed my technique in swimming and improved my strength for the run. It has been great to train under 2 fantastic coaches in a friendly and supportive environment. I know as I line up on the beach at the start of this years’ season I will be fitter, stronger and more confident. Thanks Ty and Cym! Danielle, Teacher, Tyabb, 2010

Triathlon has been a challenging but immensely rewarding journey and one I could not have completed without the coaches at Peninsula Tri Squad. Ty and Cym have all the credentials necessary for coaching novice beginners to world class athletes. But their success in coaching goes far beyond certifications and credentials.
Truly gifted coaches are able to assess an athletes potential, limitations and then challenge both in a positive, organised, professional and confident manner. Both Ty and Cym develop relationships with their athletes based on a growing and mutual appreciation and respect for each other as individuals. They coach with confidence, compassion and integrity. They communicate efficiently and effectively in a positive and encouraging manner.
They have the incredible ability to see the potential in an individual when perhaps they don’t see it in themselves, and address each athletes personal goals, whilst enabling a group of athletes to perform together. I joined the Squad part way through the season and completed my first Olympic Distance triathlon within 3 months. I loved it. I can’t wait to see what next season brings.
